South Africa will be looking to square the series at 1-1 when they take on India in the
second T20I at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium on Sunday, October 2.
The Proteas lost the first T20I by eight wickets in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday, having been restricted to a paltry 108/6 in their allotted 20 overs as the hosts posted 110/2 in reply with 20 balls to spare.
Arshdeep Singh led the way with the ball for the Men in Blue, taking three wickets for 32 runs in four overs, while Deepak Chahar and Harshal Patel chipped in with two dismissals each.
Four of the South African batters failed to even get off the mark as left-arm orthodox spinner Keshav Maharaj top-scored with 41 runs.
After losing two early wickets, KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav steadied the ship with an unbeaten 51 and 50 respectively to guide the Indians to a comfortable victory.

Speaking in the pre-match briefing, SA captain Temba Bavuma said it would be important to see out India's opening bowlers, which they obviously failed to do.
"They get the ball to swing and move quite a bit in the Powerplay. I think probably a little more than what we are accustomed to back home. The key is to limit the damage and not let those wickets fall," Bavuma stated.
Arshdeep and Chahar reduced the tourists to nine for five in the space of just 15 balls as the duo got the ball to swing both ways to devastating effect.

The left-arm seamer was pleased with his contribution and admitted that adapting to the situation was crucial to achieving success on the day.
"It felt really good getting the wickets early, it's always a great feeling and the plan was really simple - the ball was swinging and we pitched it in the right places and it worked well," Arshdeep said.
"Every situation we practice in, our job is whatever the teams asks for us and be adaptable to that situation and do well for the team. Today was more about the new ball and we worked really well as a pair, me and Dee Chahar, and a lot of that goes to him also."
