Orlando Pirates will look to extend their lead at the top of the Absa Premiership when they host Black Leopards on Wednesday for the first of eight league matches this week.
The Buccaneers went to the head of the standings (on goal difference) by defeating Bidvest Wits 1-0 away from home this past weekend, and they will look to open up a three-point gap to Mamelodi Sundowns with victory over the Limpopo side in midweek.
Lidoda Duvha come into the clash on the back of a 3-1 loss to Polokwane City in a provincial derby, but striker Mwape Musonda at least continued his outstanding form at the top of the scoring charts by netting his 13
th of the season.
The weekend’s action begins on Friday night in Port Elizabeth, where
Chippa United (two places above the relegation playoff berth, but only on goal difference) host a Bidvest Wits side looking to keep up their hopes of winning the championship.
The Clever Boys will look to pick up all three points at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium and hope rivals such as Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns slip up in the remainder of the campaign.
The key game on Sunday comes from the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium, where a top-eight-chasing
Golden Arrows host relegation-threatened AmaZulu in a Durban derby.
While Abafana Bes’thende are fresh from three consecutive wins across all competitions, Usuthu have lost four of their last five and are in real danger of slipping back toward the foot of the table.
