Enea Bastianini will be hoping to register his third victory of the season when he competes in the Japanese MotoGP.

Most recent race

The Ducati Lenovo Team rider endured a disappointing race at the Indonesian MotoGP on 29 September, the most recent race on the 2024 MotoGP calendar.

Bastianini was forced to retire from the race after being involved in an accident, but he finished second in the sprint event which saw him collect nine points.

MotoGP title ambitions

The former Team GO&FUN rider is still placed third in the 2024 MotoGP Riders' standings, having accumulated 291 points from 15 races.

Bastianini is now 175 points behind leader Jorge Martin of Ducati Prima Pramac Racing and 151 points behind second-placed Francesco Bagnaia of Ducati Lenovo Team.

Why Bastianini could win the 2024 Japanese MotoGP

The Rimi-born sportsman will be keen to redeem himself by winning the race after being forced to retire at the 2024 Indonesian MotoGP.

Having won this season's British MotoGP and Emilia Romagna MotoGP, Bastianini has what it takes to secure a win at the Mobility Resort Motegi.

What did he say?

“Unfortunately I was too fast entering turn one. The goal for today was to take the win, but I struggled in the early part of the race," Bastianini said after the 2024 Indonesian MotoGP.

"I lost the front on several occasions, and I wasn’t able to be as quick as I wanted. With ten laps in, the situation improved a lot: the bike was more stable, and this allowed me to open the throttle in a much more decisive way.

"I lost a little bit of time in trying to overtake Franco (Morbidelli), but once I got clear track ahead, the gap to the frontrunners kept getting smaller. Then I lost the front. With the pace I had, I think I could have caught (Pedro) Acosta, although I believe (Jorge) Martín was out of reach.”
