2024/25 English Premier League
Matchday 9
West Ham United v Manchester United
London Stadium
London, England
Sunday, 27 October 2024
Kick-off is at 16h00

Manchester United will be hoping to capitalise on the absence of Mohammed Kudus when they take on West Ham at the London Stadium on Sunday, October 27.

Kudus was sent off in the 4-1 defeat to Tottenham on October 19 following a lengthy VAR check after he pushed both Micky van de Ven and Pape Sarr in the face in two separate incidents.

The Ghana international is set to serve a three-match ban, although the Football Association could take retrospective action after he raised his hands against two different players.

Kudus played a starring role for the Hammers in the corresponding fixture last season, scoring the second goal in a 2-0 win over United.

Erik ten Hag's side will be looking to build on their first win in four games after they came from behind to beat Brentford 2-1 at Old Trafford on October 19.

The Red Devils (11th) are kept out of the top 10 on goal difference as they are tied with Bournemouth (10th) and Fulham (9th) on 11 points.

West Ham dropped to 15th place and find themselves five points above the relegation zone after winning just two of their opening eight games.

In team news, Niclas Fullkrug (calf) is the only other absentee for the hosts, while Kobbie Mainoo (thigh), Leny Yoro (ankle) and Harry Maguire (calf) miss out for the visitors once more. Luke Shaw (calf), Tyrell Malacia (knee) and Mason Mount could come back into contention though.

Irons manager Julen Lopetegui claimed he didn't see the incident involving Kudus, but insisted he will have a word with the attacking midfielder.

"I don't talk with him and I don't see the action on TV. Only that they found the review with VAR and they have for sure reason to send him off," the Spaniard said.

"I can't talk about the action because I didn't see, but if you review VAR, he is going to see anything and anything for the red card."

Ten Hag saw United score for the first time in three outings and while he welcomed the victory against the Bees, the Dutchman isn't getting carried away with it.

"It's great but don't overrate it. It is just a win," he said. "At United, you have to win every game. You have to win the next game and the game after, you have to win as well.

"If you don't win, everyone is criticising us, every time. So enjoy it for 24 hours and then move on."
