Max Verstappen will be targeting nothing but a victory when he takes part in the
Japanese Grand Prix - a race he has never won before.
The Red Bull Racing-RBPT driver was forced to retire in the last Japanese Grand Prix which took place in 2019 due to collision damage having started fifth on the grid.
Verstappen endured a disappointing race at the most recent event this term which was the Singapore Grand Prix on October 2 as he settled for a seventh spot finish.

Having started eighth on the grid, the reigning Formula One world champion was unable to catch the chasing pack and ultimately finished seventh for the second time this term.
His teammate Sergio Perez won the Singapore Grand Prix with the Ferrari duo of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz Jr finishing second and third respectively.
Despite his struggles in Marina Bay, Verstappen is still placed at the top of the 2022 Drivers' Championship standings ahead of Leclerc and Perez respectively.
Verstappen will move closer to successfully defending his Formula One world title if he wins the Japanese Grand Prix.

“I dropped the clutch and [had] anti-stall, so I need to analyse why that happened. Then, of course, you lose a lot of spots," Verstappen said after the Singapore Grand Prix.
"From there onwards I tried to pass a few people, [and] some worked, but then you get stuck in a little bit of a train. Everyone has their tyres quite up to temperature, so it’s really hard to follow.
“Of course, it’s better than eighth, but it’s not what I’m here for, not with a car like that and not with what we showed in practice. [It was] incredibly messy.”
Red Bull Racing-RBPT are placed at the top of the Constructors' Championship standings with 576 points and they are followed by Ferrari with 439 points and Mercedes with 373 points respectively.
