2022/23 English Premier League
Matchday 10
Everton v Manchester United
Goodison Park
Liverpool, England
Sunday, 9 October 2022
Kick-off is at 20h00
Manchester United must pick themselves up quickly after a crushing derby defeat when they travel down the M62 to take on Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday, October 9.
The Red Devils were thrashed 6-3 by neighbours Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium last weekend, which halted a run of four successive wins in the
Premier League.
Erik ten Hag's side dropped to sixth in the standings and trail league leaders Arsenal by nine points with a game in hand.
Ten Hag said the setback against City was expected as United are still in the early stages of the rebuilding process under his stewardship.
"The last five games, we brought that attitude on the pitch. We had a strong belief and convincing, and you bring the opponents problems," the Dutchman said.
"Today, it was the other way around, but I think it's normal in our process. The pattern has to go up, and I see, clearly, it goes up, but you will have setbacks during the process, and we have to learn from it.
"[We need to] point it clearly out and walk away from it. We will move on and carry on to the next game."
The Toffees are beginning to turn the corner after a poor start to proceedings, which saw them lose their first two matches.
However, Frank Lampard's team have embarked on a six-match unbeaten run, including back-to-back wins against West Ham (1-0) and Southampton (2-1).

They had to battle back from a goal down at St Mary's to claim all three points, with Conor Coady (52') and Dwight McNeil (54') scoring in quick succession to cancel out Joe Aribo's 49th-minute opener.
"I'm delighted with the win, and I think we deserved it," Lampard said. "Southampton is a tough place to come.
"We showed good spirit and a good reaction to come back, and I think the win shows our progression. It's not the end of the story, we need a lot more progression to get to where we want to get.
"We're getting better and we have better strength of character [than last season]. We've had a couple of good draws on the road which showed some resilience and digging in - and now we come away and get a win. That will give a feeling of confidence to the group."
