2023/24 English Premier League
Matchday 13
Newcastle United v Chelsea
St James' Park
Newcastle upon Tyne, England
Saturday, 25 November 2023
Kick-off is at 17h00
Newcastle can expect a stern test from Chelsea at St James' Park on Saturday, November 25 as they target a return to winning ways in the
Premier League.
The Magpies had a bad day at the office against Bournemouth as they struggled to create chances and were caught napping at the back for both of Dominic Solanke's goals.
The 2-0 defeat at the Vitality Stadium halted a seven-game unbeaten run for Eddie Howe' side, who slipped to seventh in the standings, six points adrift of the top four.
Manchester United leapfrogged them into sixth place courtesy of a 1-0 win over Luton at Old Trafford, while Aston Villa beat Fulham 3-1 at Villa Park to go five points clear of the Tynesiders in fifth spot.

The Blues held league leaders Manchester City to a thrilling 4-4 draw at Stamford Bridge, where former Citizen Cole Palmer scored a dramatic equaliser from the penalty spot deep into stoppage time.
This came just six days after Mauricio Pochettino's side brought an end to Tottenham's undefeated start to the campaign with a 4-1 victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The West Londoners remained in the top half of the table, pushing Brentford down to 11th position on goal difference, with the two teams level on 16 points.
Anthony Gordon is becoming an increasingly important influence on the team, having endured a difficult first six months on Tyneside following his switch from Everton in January 2022. The 22-year-old winger has only missed one game due to suspension, while contributing four goals and two assists from the left flank.

Raheem Sterling appears to have gotten his confidence back and looks to be the player that tempted Chelsea to part with £47.5 million to acquire his services from City. The England international has tormented defences on both flanks this season and he starred in the recent victory over Spurs, winning the penalty that was converted by Cole before setting up Nicolas Jackson for the first of his three goals.
Kieran Trippier was involved in a heated altercation with Toon fans after the final whistle on the south coast and the right-back urged them not to panic after the setback against the Cherries.
"The fans are emotional, they have travelled a long way. I had a chat with one of them, saying we are giving everything and there's no need to panic," Trippier told Sky Sports.
"We got beat and we apologise for that result, but the lads are giving everything."
Pochettino praised his players for refusing to give up after Rodri's deflected strike gave City the lead four minutes from time and feels the performance could be a turning point in their season.
"We showed the mentality, showed the character, showed also that we have the tools against a team like Manchester City to go for goals and to dominate and we have the capacity to create chances. I think today was really important," the Argentine said.
"Maybe this is the starting point to start to build our confidence and believe more in the way that we are working. After today, now it is about translating into the way that we are going to compete in the future in this way."
