Pakistan will be looking to get their hands on the T20 World Cup trophy for the second time when they face England in the final at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday, November 13.

The Shaheens recovered from a disappointing start to the tournament in Australia, which saw them lose their first two games against India and Zimbabwe before going on to finish runners-up to India in Group 2.

Saqlain Mushtaq's side then produced a masterclass batting display to beat tournament favourites New Zealand by seven wickets in their semi-final at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Wednesday.

After restricting the Black Caps to 152/4 in their allotted 20 overs, Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam put on a first-wicket stand of 105 to pave the way for victory with five balls to spare.

Rizwan was dismissed for 57 and Azam for 53, but Mohammad Haris kept the momentum going with 30 from 26 balls and Shan Masood hit the winning runs in the final over.

Rizwan, who was named Player of the Match, revealed that he and Pakistan captain Azam had decided to combat the tricky conditions by taking on the new ball, claiming that the target of 153 wasn't easy to get on that pitch.

"When we crossed the boundary line, me and Babar decided that we can attack the new ball, because we knew that the pitch was tricky, a little bit difficult, and 150 [153] was a good target on this pitch," he said in the post-match interviews.

"We decided we're going to do hard work and attack these guys, and when we finish the powerplay, one of the guys will go deep, because obviously pitch was tricky.

"I think he [Haris] is a young guy and showing his aggression. We will enjoy this moment, but at the same time we will focus on the final."

Pakistan last reached the final in 2009 when they beat Sri Lanka at Lord's to be crowned champions, having lost to India in the 2007 final at Wanderers.
