Cameroon are facing early elimination from the
2022 World Cup, while Ghana could get payback against Uruguay for 2010 on Friday.
The action gets underway in Group H as Ghana take on Uruguay at the Al Janoub Stadium in Al Wakrah, with South Korea and Portugal locking horns at the Education City Stadium in Al Rayyan.
The Selecao lead the way with six points after winning their opening two matches and they are followed by the Black Stars on three, having recorded a 3-2 victory over the Taegeuk Warriors on Monday.
South Korea and La Celeste have a point apiece in third and fourth place respectively, with the latter losing 2-0 to the Portuguese on Monday.
Ghana will be looking to avenge their defeat to Uruguay in the quarter-finals of the 2010 World Cup, which saw Luis Suarez deliberately handle the ball on the line to prevent the West Africans from scoring the winner deep into extra-time. Asamoah Gyan failed to convert the subsequent penalty and the South Americans went on to win in the shootout.
Black Stars head coach Otto Addo admits the Uruguayans will pose a tough challenge but he's confident that his team can come out on top on this occasion.
"It will be very difficult, but I am confident to know that we can win this game," Addo said. "They have very good strikers, lots of experience and they are a very compact, very good team.
"It will be very difficult just like every match. We said before the tournament started every game will be on edge, and we have to be at our best to beat them."

Portugal are in a strong position to win the group with a 100 per cent record as they look to send South Korea packing. Cho Gue Song became the first South Korean player to score more than one goal in a World Cup match with his brace against Ghana but it was not enough to secure a first victory for Paulo Bento's side.
Group G looks very similar with Brazil sitting on six points and Switzerland trailing them by three in second place followed by Cameroon and Serbia on a point each.
The Indomitable Lions have to spring an upset for the ages against Brazil at the Lusail Iconic Stadium in Lusail to keep their World Cup dream alive.
Rigobert Song's side lost their opener 1-0 to Switzerland before they played out to an entertaining 3-3 draw with Serbia on Monday.
Song insists the Central Africans are getting better with each game and believes they can pull off a surprise against the Selecao, who have yet to concede in the World Cup.
"What was important was to show that great fighting spirit and determination," Song said. "We reacted as well as we could [at 3-1 down] to get back into the match. We are progressing and improving.
"It is possible to beat Brazil. We believe in ourselves, we did not come here to just go through the motions. Cameroon still has a contribution to make to this tournament."
Switzerland take on Serbia at the Stadium 974 in Doha aiming to reach the last 16 for the third tournament in succession.
Murat Yakin's side kicked off their campaign in Qatar with a 1-0 victory over Cameroon and they held out for 83 minutes against Brazil on Monday before Casemiro popped up with the winner.
The Eagles need to win big against the Swiss to qualify for the last 16 for the first time since 1998 as they have a goal difference of negative two after shipping five in their opening two games.
