Following their failure to qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, Ronald Koeman’s current reign in charge of the Oranje began with a 1-0 home defeat against England in March. The Dutch then proceeded to go unbeaten, winning two of their next four friendly internationals before suffering a 2-1 defeat to the World Champions France in their UEFA Nations League opener in Paris last month. Ryan Babel had briefly brought the visitors level in the second-half, after Kylian Mbappe had given the hosts the lead in the 14
th minute, only for Olivier Giroud to seal all three points seven minutes with a fine strike seven minutes later.
