2022/23 English Premier League
Matchday 35
Newcastle United v Arsenal
St James' Park
Newcastle upon Tyne, England
Sunday, 7 May 2023
Kick-off is at 17h30
Premier League title hopefuls Arsenal will be looking to build on their first win in five matches when they lock horns with Newcastle at St James' Park on Sunday, May 7.
The Gunners relinquished top spot for the first time this year when they were beaten 4-1 by Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on April 26 - their first defeat since February 15.
However, Mikel Arteta's side reclaimed pole position with a 3-1 victory over Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday, May 2 to go two points clear of the Citizens ahead of their game against West Ham on Wednesday, May 3.
The North Londoners allowed City back into the title race after playing out to three successive draws with Liverpool (2-2), the Hammers (2-2) and Southampton (3-3) prior to their top-of-the-table clash.

The Magpies have quickly moved on from the recent disappointment of their 3-0 loss at Aston Villa by embarking on a three-match winning streak to cement their place in the top four.
A 3-1 triumph against Southampton on Tyneside last weekend saw them maintain the two-point gap to Manchester United (4th) albeit having played one game more.
Callum Wilson has been key to their bid for UEFA Champions League football after scoring eight goals in his last seven outings. The striker has mainly been used as an impact sub this season due to the form of new signing Alexander Isak but he's seized the opportunity when called upon and is now sitting on 15 goals for the campaign.

Martin Odegaard has flourished as Arsenal captain, playing a central role in their title challenge. The Norway international bagged a brace in the win over the Blues last time out to take his tally for the season to 14 goals from 33 appearances, while also registering eight assists in the process.
In team news, the hosts continue to be without long-term absentee Emil Krafth (knee), although Allan Saint-Maximin (thigh) and Sean Longstaff (ankle) could come back into contention for the visit of the Gunners. Takehiro Tomiyasu, Mohamed Elneny (both knee) and William Saliba (back) will miss the long trip to the north-east while Gabriel Magalhaes is rated doubtful.
Toon boss Eddie Howe praised the impact made by Wilson against the Saints after he stepped off the bench to bag a brace - his second in two games.
"He took his goals brilliantly. His all-round performance was superb. He had a galvanising effect on the group, on the crowd. Alex [Isak] moved to the left and did really well. It was a really good second half and capped off with Callum's goal," Howe said.
Arteta believes his players have found their stride again after a tough couple of weeks after they scored three first-half goals to take charge of proceedings against the Blues.
"The team is back to its best. There was a lot of energy, determination, quality, movement, and we were really going for it. We connected with our crowd straight away, we scored two magnificent goals, got control of the game and fully deserved to win," the Spaniard said.
"We wanted to prove we had that fire in the belly. I could see that in the last few days, and we prepared the game well. Mentally we arrived in the right mood and with the right level of energy. Everything went for us as well, which is important."
