International friendly
Egypt v Colombia
Milan, Italy
Friday, June 01 2018
Kick-off is at 21:15 (CAT)
Egypt will hope to get their preparations for the
2018 FIFA World Cup on track as they clash against Colombia in a friendly on Friday June 1 at Stadio Atleti Azzurri d'Italia at 21:15 (CAT).
The Pharaohs are finalising their preparations for their first appearance at the global showpiece since 1990 and will want to measure their readiness.
Coach Hector Cuper will hope to lead his men to a win over their South American counterparts in a neutral venue in Italy as they will face Uruguay, Russia and Saudi Arabia in their Group A.
Fresh from two losses in the March international FIFA break to Greece and Portugal, the North Africans drew 1-1 against Kuwait last Friday.
However, without their star player in Mohamed Salah, who is out injured, Egypt’s Cuper will have to change his plans as he wants to fine tune his tactics.
On the other hand, Colombia are also gunning for a win and continue with their build up to the global showpiece set for next month.
They are fresh from a draw against France and a convincing 4-0 win over Korea People’s Republic earlier this year and will face the Africans for the first time in a competitive encounter.
Head coach José Pekeman will aim to take La Tricolor beyond their last achievement in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil when they were able to reach the tournament’s quarterfinals.
Colombia are in Group D in Russia and will face off against Poland, Senegal, and Japan.
