With the
Betway Premiership's top two getting the weekend off, Stellenbosch and TS Galaxy will continue their battle for the final continental berth.
The domestic action resumes after the international break on Saturday, March 29 as Kaizer Chiefs travel to the Moses Mabhida Stadium for a clash with Golden Arrows.
Amakhosi's up-and-down season persisted when they lost 2-0 to Richards Bay on March 16, making it just one win from their last five matches.
The Glamour Boys find themselves down in eighth position on 29 points, six outside the African places and Chief head coach Nasreddine Nabi insists he needs more time to revive their fortunes.
"It's true that we are in the process of rebuilding the team, and a big team like Kaizer Chiefs is not rebuilt in six or seven months, we need more time than that," Nabi said.
"But the only thing we know is exactly what we need, and where we need it, to have a better team or better club."
Abafana Bes'thende have dropped out of the top eight after winning just one of their last five games, with a 1-0 loss to Magesi on March 15 leaving them down in 10th position.
Stellenbosch will be keen to keep the momentum going when they take on an improving Magesi at the Seshego Stadium on Saturday, March 29 in the other afternoon kick-off.
The Maroons have surged up to third spot courtesy of a 2-1 victory over Sekhukhune United on March 16 which extended their unbeaten run to seven outings.
Steve Barker's side went above TS Galaxy on goal difference with two games in hand on them and Stellies trail Bucs by eight points.
Barker has urged his players to use last season as a template in a bid to qualify for continental football once more by finishing strongly in their final nine matches.
"I think our season targets can be to emulate last term," he said. "Can we get back to Africa? So now we are in that position.
"We were in the final in the MTN8 and two quarter-finals and a third one to look forward to. I think it has been a good season for us. Now the important part is to just pull it through and see it through to finish strong. If we can do that, it will be really a good season."
Dikwena tsa Meetse appear to be turning the corner under Owen da Gama following back-to-back 1-0 wins over the Natal Rich Boyz and Arrows.
It was their third triumph in five encounters and took them up to 12th place, two points clear of the danger zone, with Da Gama registering his fifth win in 13 games since replacing Clinton Larsen at the helm.
Meanwhile, TS Galaxy will look to keep the pressure on Stellenbosch when they welcome Marumo Gallants to the Mbombela Stadium on Sunday, March 30.
The Rockets appear to have recovered from the back-to-back defeats against Stellies and Sundowns, which brought an end to Adnan Beganovic's unbeaten start at the helm.
Beganovic's side overcame AmaZulu 2-1 on March 14 to record their third win in four outings, the other result a 1-1 draw with Cape Town City and they are tied on 35 points with the Cape Winelands outfit.
Bahlabane Ba Ntwa collected a welcome three points as they edged the Citizens 1-0 on March 15 which arrested a two-game losing streak.
However, Gallants (14th) remain in danger of getting sucked into the relegation scrap, with just one point separating them and SuperSport United in 15th spot.
Elsewhere, Andre Arendse kicks off his SuperSport United tenure with a home clash against Cape Town City (13th) at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium, Chippa United (9th) play host to AmaZulu (7th) at the Buffalo City Stadium and Polokwane City (6th) take on Richards Bay (11th) at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium
