2022/23 Spanish La Liga
Matchday 27
Real Madrid v Real Valladolid
Estadio Santiago Bernabéu
Madrid, Spain
Sunday, 2 April 2023
Kick-off is at 16h15
Real Madrid will square off with Real Valladolid in a
Spanish La Liga match at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu on April 2.
Current Form
The Whites suffered a 2-1 defeat to FC Barcelona away on March 19 as their five-match unbeaten run in the league came to an end.
However, Madrid are unbeaten in their last 16 matches at home having recorded five draws and 11 victories at the iconic Estadio Santiago Bernabéu.
While Valladolid succumbed to a 3-1 loss to Athletic Bilbao at home on March 17 and they are winless in their last two matches in La Liga.
The White and Violets are also winless in their last three matches on the road having registered two consecutive defeats and one draw.
What Is At Stake
Madrid are still placed second on the league standings and they cannot afford to drop more points as they are 12 points behind leaders FC Barcelona.
The defending champions will be keen to bounce back to winning ways in order to keep their ambitions of retaining the championship alive.
While Valladolid are placed 16th on the league standings - two points above the relegation zone and they will be determined to secure a win which would move them further away from the bottom three spots.
Team News
Ferland Mendy and Thibaut Courtois are the two players who are on Madrid's injury-list at the moment and Carlo Ancelotti's side have no suspension concerns.
Meanwhile, Valladolid also have no suspension concerns, but they have three players on their injury-list namely, Anuar, Jordi Masip and Gonzalo Plata.
Key Players
Karim Benzema will carry Madrid's hopes of defeating Valladolid with the French superstar having scored 11 goals and provided three assists in La Liga this term.
On the other hand, Cyle Larin is Valladolid's dangerman having impressively scored five goals from eight league games since joining the White and Violets in January this year.

Quotes
“We played a good game, we deserved to win. There remains the question of the goal that was disallowed," Ancelotti said after their defeat to Barcelona.
"We were convinced that the game was won. We leave this game with the confidence that we can finish the season well.”
“We didn’t win because there was an offside we still have doubts about. At the World Cup offsides were very clear, but here I still have doubts.”
Head-to-Head
Madrid claimed a 2-0 win over Valladolid in their last meeting in La Liga with the match taking place at the Estadio José Zorrilla on 30 December 2022.
Therefore, the Whites are undefeated in their last 14 league matches against the Whites and Violets having recorded two draws and 12 wins.
