2021/22 English Premier League

Matchday 30

Wolverhampton Wanderers v Leeds United

Wolves will be targeting a third Premier League win on the spin when they welcome Leeds to Molineux on Friday, March 18.

Bruno Lage's side made it back-to-back victories in the league when they beat Everton 1-0 at Goodison Park on Sunday.

The Black Country club arrested a three-match losing streak with a 4-0 success against relegation-threatened Watford prior to their trip to Merseyside.

Lage hailed the second-half display against the Toffees as one of Wolves' best during his tenure after they had been so poor in a 2-0 defeat at home to Crystal Palace on March 5.

"After Crystal Palace, two games around 60 per cent possession in both games, we controlled the game, we dominated the game," the Portuguese tactician said.

"The second half was one of our best, we controlled the game, we created chances. After three defeats, two victories, very good."

Jesse Marsch registered his first win since replacing Marcelo Bielsa at the helm as the Whites saw off Burnley 2-1 at Elland Road this past weekend.

Marsch had lost the opening two games of his reign against Leicester and Aston Villa, which extended their winless run in the top flight to eight outings.

The triumph over the Clarets saw the West Yorkshire outfit pull four points clear of the relegation zone in 16th place.

Marsch feels progress is being made as the players begin to get to grips with his tactical approach.

"The three points are incredibly valuable. What I take away is that the performance was strong and the idea of how we want to play the game," he told the media on Sunday.

"The details tactically of where we want to be and how we want to play together was much, much, much better than both of the last games, certainly better than Aston Villa and even better than Leicester.

"So, you know, this is a big step forward for us not just because of the points but also because of the clarity on the pitch, tactically."
