Canadian Grand Prix title since 2018 when Sebastien Vettel won the race.
Most recent race
The 29-year-old secured a podium spot at the Monaco Grand Prix on 26 May as he continued his promising start to the 2024 season.
Sainz Jr started on the third grid and he managed to maintain his position until he finished third, and collected 15 important points from the race.
Formula One title ambitions
The Spanish racing driver is now placed fourth on the World Drivers' Championship standings having accumulated 108 points.
Sainz Jr is 61 points behind leader, Max Verstappen as racing drivers battle to catch the Red Bull Racing driver.
Why Sainz Jr could win the 2024 Canadian Grand Prix
The Madrid-born star has been consistent since the start of the current season as he is yet to finish outside the top five and he won the Australian Grand Prix.
Sainz Jr will be determined to record his second victory of the campaign at the Canadian Grand Prix to boost his Formula One world title ambitions.
What did he say?
It was a very tactical race. I had a very good first start off the line, to the point that I was side by side with Oscar (Piastri) into turn 1 and I went for the inside gap. We touched, I got a puncture and I thought that was it," Sainz Jr said after the 2024 Monaco Grand Prix.
"Fortunately for me, the big accident behind meant I could restart from P3 and thankfully everyone was OK.It was a very tactical race. "Once this was achieved, I tried to overtake Oscar during the last laps but it’s simply too difficult if you are on the same strategy as the car ahead. I'm very happy for Charles! Winning your home race is something every driver dreams of and it was good to be able to celebrate with him on the podium."
