2023 US Open which is the 123rd edition of the event will take place in Los Angeles, California, USA between 15 and 18 June.
What to know about the tournament
Formed in 1895, it is the third of the four major championships in golf and is on the official schedule of both the PGA Tour and the European Tour.
Since 1898 the competition has been 72 holes of stroke play (4 rounds on an 18-hole course), with the winner being the player with the lowest total number of strokes.
It is staged by the United States Golf Association (USGA) in mid-June, scheduled so that, if there are no weather delays, the final round is played on the third Sunday.

On June 12, the USGA announced that three additional players have earned full exemptions into this year's US Open.
This brought the number of fully exempt players to 89 and additionally, three alternates from final qualifying were added to complete the 156-player field.
Favourites
Matt Fitzpatrick will defend his US Open title having lifted the trophy last year with a one-shot victory at The Country Club in Brookline, Massachusetts, USA.
Fitzpatrick will be up against the best of the golfers as he looks to defend his title with Jon Rahm, Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy and Dustin Johnson set to compete in the tournament.
Winners of the last 10 US Opens: Rahm, Johnson, Fitzpatrick, Bryson DeChambeau, Martin Kaymer, Brooks Koepka (won it twice), Justin Rose, Jordan Spieth and Gary Woodland will all be present.
What Is At Stake
The 2023 US Open will offer 600 FedEx Cup points and 100 Official World Golf Ranking points to the winner who also gets spots in the other three majors for the next five years.
The tournament boasts a purse of $17,5 million and the winner of the event will earn their share of $3,150 million, while also receiving the Claret Jug trophy.

The USGA accepted entries for the 2023 US Open from golfers in all 50 states, including 1,282 from the host state, California, as well as Puerto Rico, the District of Columbia and 87 foreign countries.
