The 2024 Wimbledon Championships are taking place at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club and will come to an end on 14 July.
What to know about the tournament
Established in 1877, the Championships, commonly known simply as Wimbledon, is the oldest tennis tournament in the world and is widely regarded as the most prestigious.
Wimbledon is one of the four Grand Slam tournaments, the others being the Australian Open, the French Open, and the US Open.

Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz will be keen to retain his title, but world number Jannik Sinner is among the favourites in the men's singles quarter-finals.
On the other hand, former world number one Naomi Osaka and American star Coco Gauff are among the contenders to win the women's singles title.
What Is At Stake
The 2024 Wimbledon singles champions will each receive £2.7 million (about $3.4 million) in prize money.
The men's champion will also receive a trophy made of silver gilt, which stands 18 inches high and has a diameter of 7.5 inches.
The women's champion receives a silver salver, sometimes referred to as the Rosewater Dish or Venus Rosewater Dish and it is made of sterling silver, partly gilded.

On Tuesday, 2 July, Andy Murray announced that he was withdrawing from the singles competition; he simply had not had enough time to recover from the operation on his back 10 days ago.
“Unfortunately, despite working incredibly hard on his recovery since his operation just over a week ago, Andy has taken the very difficult decision not to play the singles this year,” a statement about the former Wimbledon champion and world No.1 read.
“As you can imagine, he is extremely disappointed but has confirmed that he will be playing in the doubles with Jamie and looks forward to competing at Wimbledon for the last time.”
