Just four days after beating Euro 2024 hosts Germany, Spain are set for another titanic encounter against France in the semi-finals at the Allianz Arena in Munich on Tuesday, July 9.

La Furia Roja are strong favourites to lift the trophy for a record fourth time in Berlin after they dug deep to eliminate their fellow title contenders in the quarter-finals.

Luis de la Fuente's side have a perfect record at the tournament and they've looked formidable in their opening five matches, scoring the most goals (11) while conceding only two.

Spain were just seconds away from penalties before Mikel Merino popped up in the 119th minute to head home the winner as they clinched a dramatic 2-1 victory over Die Mannschaft.

Les Bleus have yet to really click into gear in Germany, but they too are unbeaten and have conceded just one goal in their opening five games.

Didier Deschamps' side needed penalties to overcome Portugal in the last eight, with all five of their players holding their nerve from 12 yards out to run out 5-3 victors following a 0-0 draw after extra time.

France are bidding to reach their fifth major final in eight years and they came out on top in their previous meeting with Spain, winning 2-1 in the 2021 UEFA Nations League decider.

De la Fuente previously stated that he has the best team at the tournament and he hailed his players as an inspiration for sportsmen and women back home.

"I'm proud of this group of players, such a committed group of players, who are an example for our country, for our society, and for any sportsmen and women who want to be competitive and want to improve every day in order to try and be a bit better every day," he said.

"Our team has heart and I know them; they have ambition and they are eager to be better every day. They never tire of improving and I am proud to coach them."

Then on Wednesday, July 10, Netherlands will attempt to deny England a second successive final appearance when they clash at Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund.

The Oranje are the third-highest scorers at the tournament with nine goals, but they've also shipped five, three of which came in a 3-2 defeat to Austria in the group stages.

Ronald Koeman's side looked much better in the round of 16 as they dispatched Romania 3-0 before coming from behind to beat Turkey 2-1 in the last eight.

The Three Lions have reached a third semi-final in six years despite not playing anywhere near their potential in Germany, with Gareth Southgate coming in for criticism over his tactics, playing style and team selections.

However, Southgate's side have shown grit in the knockout stages, scoring a last-gasp equaliser against Slovakia before going on to win 2-1 and they again came from behind to beat Switzerland on penalties.

Bukayo Saka was the villain three years ago when he missed a crucial penalty against Italy in the Euro 2020 final, but he banished those memories by scoring the winner from the spot against the A-Team.

Southgate was full of praise for Saka, saying: "So brave. He is one of our best, so we were never in any question that he was going to take one. But we all know what he went through.

"To deliver as he did ... But not just him, Trent [Alexander-Arnold] and Ivan [Toney], to come on and take them as they did; Cole [Palmer], he's like an old man in the way he is fearless. So a huge result for us, a huge performance, and we're still in it."
