Their last semi-final appearance came against Germany at the 1996 tournament and they succumbed to a 6-5 defeat on penalties following a 1-1 draw at the Wembley Stadium.
England are undefeated in their last five matches in the European Championship having recorded four victories and one draw.
Their last defeat came against Iceland in the EURO 2016 Round of 16 match which ended in a 2-1 win in favour of the Icelanders at the Allianz Riviera in Nice, France.

Harry Kane, the England captain, says they can take another step towards achieving their vision of winning a big tournament when they face Denmark.
“We know it’s going to be a tough game. But we know as well if we get it right and play how we know we can, then we have a great opportunity to get to a final,” Kane said.
“A lot of us playing now won’t have the opportunity to have a big game like that at Wembley in a major tournament again. It’s an opportunity for us and we have to grab it with both hands. We have to enjoy being in that environment.
“Coming off the back of the Germany game, the spirits were high and the stadium was rocking so hopefully we can use that energy again and really take the game to Denmark.”
The last meeting between England and Denmark was on 14 October 2020.
Denmark claimed a hard-fought 1-0 victory over England in a UEFA Nations League match that was played at the Wembley Stadium.
