Premier League 2019/20
The agent of Ivory Coast star Nicolas Pepe has cast doubt over reports that Arsenal have made a £70million bid for the forward.
Over the past weekend, French media claimed that French Ligue 1 club Lille had received a shock offer from the
English Premier League giants, with manager Unai Emery desperate to sign a new forward this summer.
However, Pepe’s agent, Samir Khiat, appeared to reject the reports by saying:
“Oh, really?” when reacting to L’Equipe’s claim they had verified the transfer story with the player’s team.
BBC Sport also claim there is no truth to the rumour, insisting Arsenal do not have the budget to complete such a big deal this summer.
Only Kylian Mbapppe (33) scored more Ligue 1 goals than Pepe’s 22 strikes last season and his agent confirmed the forward had a number of suitors.
“The aim is for him to sign in the right place. PSG is a possibility,” Khiat told French TV.
“Today, all parties need to reach an agreement. There are exchanges and discussions. He is wanted by a considerable number of clubs.”
