Philadelphia 76ers will be looking to continue their recent dominance over Brooklyn Nets when they meet at the Wells Fargo Center on the morning of Sunday, February 4.

The Sixers have won their last five match-ups against the Nets and are targeting the double over them this season after running out 121-99 victors at the Barclays Center on November 19.

Nick Nurse's team occupy third spot in the Eastern Conference after embarking on a six-game winning streak recently, but back-to-back defeats against Indiana Pacers and Denver Nuggets has seen them fall two games back to Milwaukee Bucks (2nd).

Joel Embiid sat out the trip to Denver for a fourth consecutive season with a knee problem as Nikola Jokic posted 26 points and 16 rebounds to lead the Nuggets to a 111-105 victory on January 28.

Paul Reed led the scoring for the Atlantic Division franchise with a game-high 30 points, but they missed the reigning NBA MVP, who was scratched with less than 30 minutes to go before tip-off.

"Not till about 20-to-25 to go on the clock," Nurse said when asked about his knowledge of Embiid's situation.

"He went out to do his regular warm-up and the medical care team just didn't like what they saw and they just said left knee soreness and they just decided that it was safer, much safer for him not to play today."

The Nets have dropped out of contention for the play-in tournament after enduring a disappointing start to the New Year.

Jacque Vaughn's team have won just three of their 13 outings this month and they arrested a three-game skid with a narrow 106-104 success against Houston Rockets on January 28.

Cameron Thomas scored a game-high 37 points as the Nets never trailed throughout at the Barclays Center, although they were outscored 34-18 in the final period.

"I did feel we were more comfortable in the fourth quarter. Even when they were making the run, the conversation between our guys was good going back to the huddle," Vaughn said.

"I'm going to take away the positive piece of it: We're in these situations over and over again, which is good, and we're learning how to deal with it."
