South Africa and Tunisia will meet in a must-win
2023 AFCON Group E match at the Amadou Gon Coulibaly Stadium on 24 January.

South Africa thumped Namibia 4-0 in a Group E game on 21 January as they snapped a three-match winless run across all competitions.
The win over Namibia also ended Bafana Bafana's two-match winless run in the AFCON finals having recorded two consecutive defeats.
Meanwhile, Tunisia drew 1-1 with Mali in a Group E match on 20 January and they are now winless in their last two matches across all competitions.
The Carthage Eagles are also winless in their last three matches in the AFCON finals having registered two successive defeats and one draw.

South Africa have no injury and suspension concerns in their camp coming into this eagerly-anticipated match against Tunisia.
Meanwhile, Tunisia will be without the services of Taha Yassine Khenissi who has left the team's camp due to an injury, but the Carthage Eagles have no suspension issues.

“We know that it is not over yet. It’s going to be a difficult one against Tunisia. We are going to analyse them properly and come with a plan. We know that we definitely need to win in order to qualify [guarantee qualification],” South Africa's playmaker Themba Zwane said.
“They were very physical, and our players got some knocks but that did not stop us, and we continued working hard. Getting a point against Mali is very important and such a tough match is good for us ahead of the final group match,” Tunisia coach Jalel Kadri said.

The last meeting between the two teams in the AFCON finals was in the 2008 edition with Carthage Eagles securing a 3-1 win over Bafana in Ghana.
