2021/22 English Premier League

Matchday 23

Manchester United v West Ham

Old Trafford
Manchester, England
Saturday, 22 January 2022
Kick-off is at 17h00

Manchester United will be hoping to get back on the winning trail when they welcome West Ham to Old Trafford for a Premier League clash on January 22.

The Red Devils squandered a two-goal lead at Villa Park to draw 2-2 with Aston Villa on January 15, having beaten Steven Gerrard's side 1-0 just five days prior in the FA Cup third round.

The stalemate left Ralf Rangnick's men winless in their last two league outings after losing 1-0 to Wolves on January 3.

United find themselves five points off the top-four in seventh place, with the Hammers currently occupying the final Champions League berth.

Rangnick liked what he saw in the first half, but conceded that a point just won't do in their quest to qualify for Europe's elite club competition.

Asked if he felt whether it was his team's best performance in a half thus far, the German said: "Yes [it was] but again, in the end it's also about the result and after having lost against Wolves, today only one point, it's just not enough.

"This is exactly how it feels right now. But again, we have to take the good things into the next couple of games and show and develop and build upon that."

The East Londoners are also looking to bounce back from defeat after going down 3-2 to Leeds at the London Stadium on January 16.

The setback against the Whites halted a three-match winning streak for the club from the capital as they failed to close the six-point gap to neighbours Chelsea in third spot.

Irons boss David Moyes is looking forward to giving his players a well-earned rest ahead of the trip to the Theatre of Dreams after playing three games in the space of a week.

"We have a full week between games now and it's important to just give the players a little bit of time," Moyes said after the Leeds encounter.

"They've had to do three games in a week - Sunday-Wednesday-Thursday, which is pretty normal but I don't know if it's that normal at this time of year."
