2021/22 English Premier League
Matchday 22
Liverpool v Brentford
Anfield
Liverpool, England
Sunday, 16 January 2022
Kick-off is at 16h00
Liverpool will be looking to get their title challenge back on track when they welcome Brentford to Anfield in the
Premier League on January 16.
Jurgen Klopp's side has fallen off the pace in the race for the top-flight crown after failing to win their last three encounters, which allowed Manchester City to pull 10 points clear at the top of the table.
A 2-2 draw at Tottenham on December 19 halted a six-match winning streak for the third-placed Reds, who closed out 2021 with a 1-0 loss at Leicester.
The Merseyside giants kicked off the New Year with a 2-2 stalemate at Chelsea on January 2 to maintain the one-point gap between them and the European champions in second spot.

Klopp admits an outbreak of COVID-19 at the club made for a challenging week ahead of their FA Cup third-round clash against Shrewsbury on January 9.
"The situation is just like this: we had, how we thought last week, a proper outbreak and it showed up that we had a lot of false positives, actually," the German said after Liverpool's 4-1 win.
"So it was a really, really tough week because the boys anyway couldn't train, because we had to close the training ground, because until you realise that it's false positive it takes two extra testing rounds, so it's really difficult."
The Bees made an impressive start to life in the top tier of English football, losing just one of their opening seven encounters and picking up wins against Arsenal, Wolves and West Ham.
However, they struggled a bit in the final three months of 2021, suffering seven defeats during that period to drop out of the top-10.
The West Londoners got off to a winning start in the New Year by beating Aston Villa 2-1 on January 2 to move up to 12th in the standings ahead of their trip to Southampton on January 11.

Thomas Frank is pleased with his team's efforts at the halfway stage of the season given their injury problems.
"It's been a good first-half. We've tried to become an asset to the Premier League and tried to attack it by being positive and brave," Frank told the club's official website.
"Looking back on our performances we could have got a few more points which is quite impressive. Taking our injury list into account, it has been good."
