2019/20 Premier League
Round 24
21-23 January
Chelsea and Arsenal will meet for another classic London derby battle at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday 21 January 2020, kick-off at 22:15. The match is one of 10 spread across the midweek of 21-23 January for the 24th round of the 2019/20 Premier League season.
Chelsea’s last home match produced a 3-0 win over Burnley, with the Blues avoiding a hat-trick of Premier League defeats at Stamford Bridge thanks to goals from Jorginho, Tammy Abraham and Callum Hudson-Odoi.
“I’m always ambitious and it’s always at the back of my mind. Growing up, I always wanted to play for England and now I have the opportunity so I’ll try to grab it with two hands. There’s probably more pressure being Chelsea’s number nine but I’m enjoying myself and I just have to keep doing that,” said Abraham, who could capitalise on Harry Kane’s injury to become England’s top forward ahead of Euro 2020.

Arsenal’s last away game was also a London derby, with the Gunners drawing 1-1 at Crystal Palace. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang received a straight red card in that match and therefore remains suspended for this clash against Chelsea.
“They [Arsenal’s other attackers] now have to make a step forward now he [Aubameyang] is not able to contribute to the team with goals,” manager Mikel Arteta said. “Someone else has to do it and I want to see that reaction too.”
In head-to-head stats, Chelsea and Arsenal have met in 199 previous matches. The Gunners have claimed 77 wins compared to 65 for the Blues, while 57 games have been drawn.
When the teams met in the Premier League earlier this season, at the Emirates Stadium in December 2019, Chelsea claimed a come-from-behind 2-1 win thanks to goals from Jorginho and Tammy Abraham.
