Spurs head into this weekend's round of fixtures in second spot, having put together a seven-game unbeaten streak in the league following defeat at home to Everton on matchday one.
The North London club have the look of serious title contenders this season and captain Harry Kane, who recently scored his 200th goal for the club, has praised manager Jose Mourinho's influence on the team.
"We have got players who have won things in the changing room, we have got good experience in the changing room, good leaders in the changing room, and I feel like we are at a place now where if we get it right mentally, we can achieve things, but we are not getting carried away," Kane told Spurs TV.
"Obviously Jose is a winner at every level," he added. "He has come in with that aura about him and obviously he wants to win things here.
"It is just instilling that confidence into the team. He is a great man, with great experience, so us as players can only look at that and just take confidence from that. We have had a great relationship since he walked through the door."
Manchester City have put together a five-game unbeaten run in the league, having held champions Liverpool to a 1-1 draw before the international break and they head into this weekend's round of fixtures five points and eight places behind Spurs.
Cityzens manager Pep Guardiola believes the Reds remain favourites to win the Premier League this season but is of the opinion that multiple teams will challenge at the top.
“They [Liverpool] are the biggest favourite," said Guardiola. "But I think, with what happened with the [coronavirus] pandemic, the situation is a bit different. I see other teams strong.
“I think this season there will be a lot of teams there. The last five to 10 games will be important to arrive there to fight for the title.
“Hopefully we can be there and arrive at the end with a chance to fight for the title.”
