FA Cup holders Manchester United will now shift their focus to Fulham in the 5
th Round of the FA Cup as the Red Devils prepare for a nervy encounter at Old Trafford on Sunday evening.
In typical United fashion, the Red Devils advanced to the 5
th Round of the
FA Cup via a dramatic 2-1 win against Leicester City at Old Trafford on the 7
th of February.
While the score remained at 1-1 up until the 93
rd minute, Harry Maguire’s late header sent Old Trafford into a state of Euphoria as the Reds marched on in their pursuit of retaining the prestigious FA Cup trophy.
Fulham were made to work for their upcoming tie, after recording a 2-1 win against League one side Wigan at the DW Stadium earlier this month.
While Jonny Smith’s 50
th minute equalizer cancelled out Rodrigo Muniz’ opener, the Brazilian managed to put his side ahead just five minutes later.
United head coach Ruben Amorim expressed his discontent at his side’s performance against Leicester in the 4
th Round and mentioned that he ultimately has the responsibility to turn United’s fortunes around.
"We didn't have any energy in the beginning, especially in the first half," Amorim said.
"Then in the second half we played a little bit better, with a little more speed, winning second balls.
"Then we managed to turn things around so it was a good result but not a good performance.
"The coach is the first responsible, when one team doesn't perform, doesn't improve, it is the coach but we are here to do things and to see the game, to study the game and try to improve."
Fulham mentor Marcos Silva reserved special praise for Rodrigo Muniz and Raul Jiminez following their win against Wigan, given their goal scoring form of late.
"It's great competition between him and Raul, definitely," Silva said.
"It's always good when you have two strikers that have been scoring goals, and important goals for us.
