2021/22 English Premier League
Matchday 24
Manchester City v Brentford
Etihad Stadium
Manchester, England
Wednesday, 9 February 2022
Kick-off is at 21h45
Manchester City will target a return to winning ways when they entertain Brentford in a
Premier League clash at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday, February 9.
Pep Guardiola's side could only manage a 1-1 draw with Southampton at St Mary's on January 22, which brought to an end their amazing 12-match winning streak in the top flight.
The Citizens saw their lead at the summit reduced to nine points with Liverpool's 3-1 victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park. The Reds also have a game in hand on the defending champions.

Guardiola admits it is challenging to achieve sustained success in the top tier of English football, but feels another title is within City's grasp as long as they keep their performances levels up.
"It's so difficult, with different contenders and everyone is ready to beat you because we are the reigning champions and we won a lot in the past," the Spaniard said after the stalemate on the south coast.

"That's why it's always more difficult to win and win again. I know how difficult it is, but I don't need to win or draw or lose today to know that.
"We still have a lot of games to play. What we have to try to do is play and behave the way we did today."
The Bees have recorded just one win since the turn of the year - they beat Aston VIlla 2-1 at the Brentford Community Stadium on January 2, but lost their next four league encounters.

After going down 2-1 to Wolves last time out, head coach Thomas Frank bemoaned the result and claimed his team deserved something from the match given the effort they put in.
However, Frank believes the west Londoners are capable of turning things around by continuing to fight and not dwelling on past performances.
"This is the Premier League and a lot of teams can go four, five, six, seven, eight or nine games without win through a season... that happens, with probably a few draws in there. That's why Wolves was always a winnable game that could have jolted us out of the run," Frank said in the post-match press conference.
"If you look at the performance it's annoying that we didn't get something for all our hard work, but we can't sit down and cry. There's only one thing to do and that's stand up, fight and move forward."
This will be the second meeting between the two clubs in the Premier League, with City having emerged narrow 1-0 victors in the reverse fixture on December 29.
