HUDDERSFIELD VS WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS – JOHN SMITHS STADIUM

The Terriers are still seeking their first victory under new manager Jan Siewart after Saturday’s 2-0 loss at fellow strugglers Newcastle United – their fifth defeat in-a-row since drawing 0-0 at Cardiff last month.  They will be without skipper Tommy Smith after the defender was shown a straight red card for his studs-up tackle on Magpies midfielder Miguel Almiron during the weekend’s disappointing showing.

Nuno Espirito Santo saw his sides three-match winning streak come to an abrupt end at Newcastle a fortnight ago. They recovered from that 1-1 draw by beating Bristol City 1-0 to book their place in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup before following that up with another 1-1 draw in the Premier League, this time away to Bournemouth, extending their unbeaten run to eight matches in all competitions.

Huddersfield have notched up just two wins all season, one of which came in the reverse fixture at the Molineax back in November. Aaron Mooy scored either side of half-time in a 2-0 win for the visitors – their fourth consecutive league success over Wolves with the previous three in the Championship all ending 1-0 to the Terriers.

CARDIFF CITY VS EVERTON – CARDIFF CITY STADIUM

After recording back-to-back wins in the division for the first time this season, the Bluebirds were brought crashing back down to Earth as they were humbled 5-1 at home by Watford last time out. Cardiff, in 17th, currently find themselves just one place and one point ahead of Southampton who occupy the final relegation place.

Everton slipped into the bottom-half of the table without having even kicked a ball this past weekend courtesy of Bournemouth’s draw with Wolves. The pressure is seriously mounting on Toffees boss Marco Silva and his men who have notched up just one win in their last six matches in all competitions.

Cardiff City are set to welcome Everton to their Welsh home on Tuesday for the first time since they played out to a goalless stalemate back in August 2013 during their only other season in England’s top-flight. The reverse fixture in November saw Gylfi Sigurdsson’s solitary goal secure a 1-0 win for Everton.

LEICESTER CITY VS BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION – KING POWER STADIUM

Leicester City head into this mid-table encounter without the services of head coach Claude Puel who was relieved of his duties by the Foxes following their humiliating 4-1 defeat to Crystal Palace in front of their adoring King Power crowd. The 2015/16 Premier League winners are now without a win in their last seven matches in all competitions since a 1-0 New Years Day win against Everton.

Brighton bounced back from a 3-1 defeat to Burnley by beating Derby County in the 5th round of the FA Cup and will be well-rested heading into Tuesday’s affair having missed the weekend’s Premier League action due to Chelsea’s involvement in the Carabao Cup final as the Seagulls were penned in to face the Blues. They are however without a win in their last six matches in the league since the start of 2019.

The Foxes are unbeaten in three Premier League meetings with Brighton since the latter won promotion in 2017. The corresponding fixture last season ended 2-0 to the hosts thanks to goals from Shinjo Okazaki and Harry Maguire. When the pair clashed in the reverse fixture in November Jamie Vardy’s late penalty cancelled out Glenn Murray’s early opener for the hosts as the game ended all square.

NEWCASTLE UNITED VS BURNLEY – ST JAMES PARK

Two teams separated by just one place and two points on the table will go head-to-head on Tuesday. Newcastle have suffered just one defeat from their last five played in the league while Burnley registered their second consecutive win in the division by beating title-hopefuls Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 on Saturday.

The Clarets are now unbeaten in their last eight matches in the division dating back to December with Sean Dyche optimistic of achieving a first-top flight success at St James Park since April 1976. When the duo last met, the Magpies came away from Turf Moor 2-1 winners, ending a run of four Premier League matches without a win over Burnley. The corresponding fixture in 2017/18 ended 1-1.
