Lydia Ko and Jason Day are Oceania's best hope at the
2023 Grant Thornton Invitational title and they will be hoping to win the inaugural tournament
What to know about Ko and Day
Ko first reached number one in the Women's World Golf Rankings in February 2015 at 17 years, 9 months, and 9 days of age. Therefore, the New Zealander became the youngest player either male or female to be ranked No. 1 in professional golf.
Her Australian teammate, Day is also a former world number one in the Official World Golf Ranking, having first achieved the ranking in September 2015. Day won the 2015 PGA Championship and it remains his only golf major win.
News
Ko, who is ranked 11th in the Women's World Golf Rankings, took a break from professional golf after competing in The Annika where she finished 31st last month.
Day, on the other hand, took part in the recent Hero World Challenge where he finished 11th and he is ranked 19th on the Official World Golf Rankings.
Why Ko and Day could win the event
Ko is a winner having won 19 times, including two majors and Day, has won 13 times making them some of Oceania's best golfers at the moment.
Day has had a nice comeback season with eight top-10 finishes, including a win at a PGA Tour event, 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson.

“I don’t know how to explain it,” Day said after winning the AT&T Byron Nelson.
“I came into the week after missing last week’s cut, and I was kind of fed up with having to go over a lot of technical thoughts with my swing.
"So I just decided I’m just going to go out and just try and play some golf.”
