The 2018 Tour de France will be the 105th edition of the Tour de France and it is scheduled to start on Saturday in Noirmoutier-en-l'Île.
 
The 3,351 km race will leave Noirmoutier-en-l'Île and will finish with the Champs-Élysées stage in Paris, on July 29.
 
A total of 176 riders across 22 teams are expected to participate in the 21-stage race. The Tour will be the shortest of the century.
 
It will be the fifth time a tour has set out from the Vendée department in the Pays-de-la-Loire region in west-central France, on the Atlantic Ocean.
 
Chris Froome looks to defend Tour de France title

The defending champion is Chris Froome, who won last year's Tour De France. The Team Sky member's winning time was 86h 20' 55''.
 
Froome, who is considered the highest ranked favourite for overall victory, is targeting his fifth title.
 
The British cyclist will face good competition from Richie Porte (BMC Racing), Nairo Quintana, Mikel Landa (both of Movistar Team).
 
Porte, who is an Australian cyclist, is a two-time winner of Paris–Nice. The 33-year-old is eyeing his first Tour de France title. 
 
Tom Dumoulin (Team Sunweb) and Vincenzo Nibali (Bahrain–Merida) are also expected to compete for the title.

 The 18 UCI WorldTeams will be joined by the four second-tier UCI Professional Continental teams that received a wildcard invitation to participate in the event.
 
The four teams are Cofidis, Direct Énergie, Fortuneo–Samsic, from France and Belgium's Wanty–Groupe Gobert.
 
The overall winner of the general classification will pocket €500,000, while the second and third placed riders are expected to receive €200,000 and €100,000 respectively.
