2022/23 English Premier League
Matchday 3
Manchester United v Liverpool
Old Trafford
Manchester, England
Monday, 22 August 2022
Kick-off is at 21h00
Manchester United will be desperate to avoid another humiliating defeat at the hands of Liverpool when they clash at Old Trafford on Monday, August 22.
New United manager Erik ten Hag has made a disappointing start to his tenure, losing the opening two games of the 2022/23
Premier League season.
Ten Hag's side were beaten 2-1 by Brighton at Old Trafford on the opening weekend before slumping to a heavy 4-0 defeat at Brentford on Saturday.
All four goals came in the first half which was the first time in the Premier League era that the Red Devils conceded four times in the opening 36 minutes of a match.

Ten Hag is determined to turn things around swiftly, but he stressed the need for the club to bring in more new blood, with Lisandro Martinez, Tyrell Malacia and Christian Eriksen the only arrivals during the current transfer window thus far.
"We are, as a team, in a difficult process," the Dutchman told Sky Sports in his post-match interview.
"We expected a different start. It seems like what happened in the past, last season, we have to change that very quickly.

"We need new players, we need quality players and we will do everything to convince them to come."
The Reds haven't made the best of starts themselves and are already trailing league leaders Manchester City by four points after two games.
Jurgen Klopp's team were held to a 2-2 draw by newly-promoted Fulham in their opener and had to battle back from a goal down to claim a share of the spoils against Crystal Palace on Monday.

Klopp already has an injury crisis on his hands, with Joel Matip, Roberto Firmino, Thiago Alcantara, Curtis Jones, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Ibrahima Konate, Calvin Ramsay, Diogo Jota and Caoimhin Kelleher all sidelined, while Darwin Nunez is also unavailable following his sending-off against the Eagles.
"The week was crazy; I have experienced a lot of weeks but that was like we had a witch in the building," the German remarked on the injury situation.
"It's not the start we wanted but that's the least of my problems because it's really tricky at the moment with injuries. We have to use the next week to maybe bring one or two back.
"We lost Darwin today which doesn't help but Bobby (Firmino) might be ready for next week. It's not a concern, it's just a start."
