1st T20i match
Ireland vs South Africa

Bristol, England
Wednesday, 3 August 2022
South Africa will square off with Ireland in the first match of their two-match
Twenty20 International series in Bristol, England on August 3.
The Proteas are coming into this encounter having defeated England by 90 runs and they claimed the three-match T20 series 2-1 in Southampton on Sunday.
Tabraiz Shamsi caught the eye among the bowlers for South Africa, securing superb figures of 5/24 (4), but all of the Proteas delivered in that department.
While Reeza Hendricks (70 off 50) and Auden Markram (51* off 36) were also impressive with their batting display as Proteas reached 191/5.

David Miller, who played in his 100th T20I for South Africa against England, believes the team is on the right track ahead of their clash with Ireland and the 2022 ICC T20 World Cup.
“Reeza (Hendricks, 70) Rilee (Rossouw, 31) batted superbly on a tough wicket up front and the intent everyone showed, especially with the running between the wickets, was superb,” Miller said.
“We quickly forgot about the first game (which South Africa lost by 41 runs and dropped five catches) and talked a lot about our ‘bounce back’ ability which is exactly what we have done in the last two games.
"There’s great competition for places in the squad ahead of the World Cup in a few months’ time but we’ll enjoy this victory and what we have achieved."
Meanwhile, Ireland will be hoping to return to winning ways when they face South Africa after losing 3-0 to New Zealand in their three-match T20 series in Belfast on July 20.
One of the Green and Whites' key players is Paul Stirling, who gave the Green and Whites a great start with 40 off 29 and sixes off Jacob Duffy, Mitchell Santner and Ish Sodhi against New Zealand.
While their captain Andrew Balbirnie, who is a right-handed batsman and an occasional wicket-keeper, will be hoping to lead his side to a win over the Proteas.
South Africa and Ireland will meet for the fourth time in a T20 match on August 3.
The Proteas have the upper hand in this rivalry having won all of their three T20 matches against the Green and Whites.
