Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele will be hoping to become the first pair to successfully defend the
Zurich Classic of New Orleans title.
What to know about Cantlay and Schauffele
Schauffele is a seven-time winner on the PGA Tour and his best major finish is tied second at both the 2018 Open Championship and the 2019 Masters.
His American compatriot Cantlay has won eight times on the PGA Tour as well as the 2021 FedEx Cup.
In the 2022 President Cup competition, both Cantlay and Schauffele posted 3-1 records for the winning American team.
News
Cantlay came close to winning the 2023 RBC Heritage as the man nicknamed Human Rain Delay finished third in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, USA.
Schauffele, on the other hand, was also in contention for the RBC Heritage title - finishing fourth behind Cantlay, Jordan Spieth and champion Matt Fitzpatrick.

Why are they among the favourites
Currently ranked fourth and fifth respectively on the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR), Cantlay and Schauffele are the clear favourites to win the 2023 Zurich Classic.
The Human Rain Delay and Schauffele led after all four rounds of last year’s tournament at the TPC Louisiana.
They posted a tournament record first-round score of 59 in four-ball (alternate shot) to set the pace and went into the last day of play five strokes ahead of the field.
The duo will now be confident of setting new records on their way to clinching another Zurich Classic trophy.

Steve Worthy, CEO of the Fore!Kids Foundation and producer of the tournament, lauded Cantlay and Schauffele as two of the best golfers in the world.
“Patrick and Xander are two of the best players in the world and both are playing at the top of their games right now,” Worthy said.
“They’ve partnered successfully at both the 2019 and the 2022 Presidents Cups and the 2021 Ryder Cup, so we expect them to be a formidable team here again in 2023."
