Alex Rins will be one of the favourites to win the
Spanish Grand Prix as he returns to his home country.
What to know about Rins
The Spanish motorcycle racer has been competing in the MotoGP since 2017 having been crowned 2011 CEV Buckler 125 Junior GP Champion.
Rins finished third in the 2020 MotoGP world championship as a Suzuki rider and this is his first season with Honda.
Most recent race
Starting from the second spot of the grid at the American MotoGP on April 16, Rins made a perfect start, pushed and fought unceasingly for the first position with Francesco Bagnaia of Ducati.
After a Bagnaia mistake, Rins led the race and the 27-year-old went on to win the American MotoGP - his maiden victory in the current 2022 campaign.
Why he could win the Spanish MotoGP
Rins will be oozing with confidence when he competes in the Spanish MotoGP after winning the American MotoGP title.
The Barcelona-born star will also be determined to impress in front of his compatriots at the Circuito de Jerez – Ángel Nieto.
What did he say?
“The race was amazing. I’m so happy; it’s a great achievement," Rins said after winning the American MotoGP.
"We put some good lap times together, and the tyres were there. It was quite a good race, and I’m happy because the pace was faster than last year.
"And the bike is more or less the same, so let’s keep going. Many thanks to the team, my family, the sponsors, and everybody supporting us."
