The Manchester giants have reached the semi-final of the European Cup/Champions League for the third time.
The Citizens' last semi-final appearance came last season and they defeated French football heavyweights Paris Saint Germain (PSG) 4-1 on aggregate.
"We had one or two clear chances in the first half [against Atletico] but in the second half of the second-leg they were much better. But at the same time we defended with everything," City manager Pep Guardiola said.
"We had to adapt. We could not have the ball and we felt the pressure. We are in the semi-finals and it is an incredible achievement for our club.
“Today we are going to celebrate at home, because it’s the third time in Manchester City’s history that we are in the semi-finals of the Champions League. It’s not much, so for us it’s a big success and we’re happy to be there."
