Participating teams and players
Durban Heat
The combination of Rashid Khan – one of the best bowlers in world cricket today - and Heinrich Klaasen – one of the most explosive batsmen in the MSL– immediately gives the Durban Heat an edge from the onset.
Jozi Stars
If you wanted to create the perfect batsman for T20 cricket, you would use Chris Gayle as your prototype. The Jamaican’s swashbuckling style of play is synonymous with T20 cricket. He pairs up with Beuran Hendricks, the nippy left-arm seamer to add to the Jozi Stars roster.
Paarl Rocks
Mangaliso Mosehle headlines the Paarl Rocks roster. He is lethal against wayward bowling in limited overs cricket. He pairs up with the West Indies all-rounder, Dwayne Bravo, who will bring his wealth of experience from playing all formats of the game.
Cape Town Blitz
Arguably one of the best and skilled fast bowlers of all time in Dale Steyn headlines the Cape Town Blitz’s roster. He is joined by Dawid Malan, the Englishman with strong South African connection, he is expected to lead the Blitz’s young but talented batting prowess.
Nelson Mandela Bay Giants
Jason Roy headlines the Giants’ batting lineup, he is expected to thrive in the hard South African wicket and he will ensure he sails the ball high and over the boundary. Heading up the bowling roster is Chris Morris, who in fairness to him is handy with the bat as well. His knack for taking wickets at crucial times will come in as an added advantage for the Giants.
Tshwane Spartans
The Tshwane Spartans have the experience and batting prowess of AD de Villiers. He is arguably the most feared batsman in all formats of the game. Nicknamed “Mr 360”, his shot repertoire knows no bounds and there’s very little weakness in his games technique. He is joined by Robbie Frylinck, who is lethal with both ball and bat. The 33-year comes with a big game temperament and can mix up his bowling when needed.
