George Russell will be determined to register his first victory of the 2025 Formula One World Championship by winning the
Chinese Grand Prix.

The Mercedes driver managed to secure a podium spot at the Australian Grand Prix on 16 March, the first in the 2025 Formula One World Championship season.
Russell started on the fourth grid and he went on to finish third as he achieved his 16th podium in Formula One.
Formula One title ambitions
The King's Lynn, Norfolk-born is placed third in the World Drivers' Championship standings, having accumulated 15 points from the Australian Grand Prix.
Russell is behind Max Verstappen of Red Bull Racing and leader Lando Norris of McLaren respectively.
Why Russell could win the 2025 Chinese Grand Prix
The 2022 Hawthorn Memorial Trophy winner came close to winning the Australian Grand Prix after making a good start to the race at the Albert Park Circuit.
Russell, who won two races last season, will be targeting the top World Drivers' Championship standings spot with a win in China.
What did he say?
“It was a race of survival. In that mid-phase it went from inters, then started raining more, then it went to slicks, then started raining," Russell said after the 2025 Australian Grand Prix.
“It was the most decisive decision that I have ever taken, in terms of strategy. I came around the corner, where Oscar (Piastri) and Lando (Norris) went off, and said ‘box, box, box, right now!’
“I came out of the pits and the inter tyres were probably six seconds slower in the first two sectors, but then were probably 10 seconds quicker in the last sector. “I wasn’t sure what was going to happen. To come home in P3 was a good result."
