The Brooklyn Nets and the Washington Wizards will renew their rivalry with an NBA Regular Season game at the Barclays Center in New York City, New York on the morning of Friday 18 February 2022. Tip-off is at 02:30.
The Nets, after some brilliant form in the first half of the season, have dropped way off the pace in the Eastern Conference, with their hopes of getting into the Playoffs no longer a certainty. They have also had a major shake-up on their roster, trading James Harden to the Philadelphia 76ers and bringing in Ben Simmons, amongst others.

“It is mentally, physically and emotionally draining at times when you have a lot going on, and I want James to be at peace, I want Ben to be at peace,” Kyrie Irving said of how the trades have come about and affected the team. “Let's just focus on us as basketball players and seeing where we really end up at the end of the season.”
The Wizards find themselves even further down the pecking order in the Eastern Conference, but there is a newfound sense of togetherness after bringing in Kristaps Porzingis and trading away several players – though star man Bradley Beal is out for the rest of the season with a wrist injury.

“Our main message prior to the game was, hey man, we've got 30 games left. It just all depends on us, how we want to finish this season,” Kyle Kuzma said after a win over the Nets last week. “We can continue to dwell and point fingers or we can play free and have a lot of fun out there.”
In head-to-head stats, the Nets and the Wizards have met in 198 Regular Season games since 1976-77, with Washington claiming 106 wins compared to 92 for Brooklyn. The teams’ last Regular Season meeting was just a few days ago, on February 11, and saw the Wizards claim a 113-112 thanks to 21 points from Raul Neto.
