The
2022 Mexico Open is set to be played at The Norman Signature Course in Vidanta Vallarta, Vallarta, Mexico between 28 April and May 1.
The event has its origins in the Abierto Mexicano de Golf, which dates back to 1944 and is considered the most traditional tournament in Mexico. The 2020 edition was cancelled due to COVID-19.
The 2022 edition will appear on the PGA Tour calendar for the first time as an official FedExCup event, offering 500 FedExCup points to the winner.

Alvaro Ortiz is the defending champion having won the Mexico Open trophy last year with Canada's Drew Nesbitt, who won this tournament in 2019, finishing second.
This year's tournament field is headlined by the likes of Ortiz, Jon Rahm, Gary Woodland, Patrick Reed, Abraham Ancer, Tony Finau as well as Kevin Na.
There will be 144 players on the field and the event is set to be played out over four days, with this event marking the 28th tournament of the 2021-22 PGA Tour schedule.
The field will be playing for a $7.3 million purse, with six of the top 50 in the Official World Golf Ranking among the top contenders.
Grupo Salinas, which is a corporate conglomerate formed in 2001 by several Mexican companies, is the host of the 2022 Mexico Open.

Al Espinosa is the most successful golfer in the history of the Mexico Open having won the tournament a record four times.
