Red Bull Racing-Honda's Sergio Perez will be targeting just his second win of the 2021 FIA Formula One World Championship season at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on December 12.

After being forced to retire at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix following a collision with Charles Leclerc's Ferrari, the Mexican is determined to challenge Mercedes for the Constructors' Championship title in the final race of the current campaign.

Red Bull Racing-Honda trail their rivals by 28 points as a result of Lewis Hamilton's victory in Jeddah, where Valtteri Bottas finished third and Max Verstappen second.

Perez won the Azerbaijan Grand Prix on June 6 and recorded podium finishes at the French Grand Prix (third), the Turkish Grand Prix (third), the United States Grand Prix (third) and the Mexico City Grand Prix (third).

The 31-year-old has already secured fourth place in the Drivers' Championship standings - the gap to Mercedes' Valtteri Bottas being insurmountable with one race remaining.

Hamilton and Verstappen are tied at the top of the standings, with the Dutchman out to prevent the Englishman from securing a fifth successive Championship at the Yas Marina Circuit.

Commenting on the penultimate race, Perez said: "It was a very important race for the team today so this one hurts a lot but there is hope for Abu Dhabi.

"There is still optimism and something to fight for and we will give the final race of the season everything so let's look forward."
